The answer is not to disavow the concept of utility, but to reexamine the utility of the concept.  
(In other news, did anyone else find the cover of this week’s New Yorker disgustingly smug?  It’s not like graduates with degrees other than a Ph.D. are rocking out in a high-security job market.)

In the UK most Phds are ‘jobs’ anyway, with set briefs according to the research needs of the dept/uni, and a (very low) wage. When I saw this cover I thought it was from the archives as it seemed so outdated.
As for feminism, I am always working for the man. I mean woman. I mean concept.
